How to Make Garden Syrups

Growing your own food means that there are times when you have an abundance of produce at its prime. One way of putting it to use is to make syrups from the garden and use them in cocktails, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks.

Infused syrups are easy to make and you don’t need any special equipment. I’m always preparing different syrups that I put to use when I’m making cocktails at home in my home bar.

Tips for Making Garden Syrups

As a general guide, syrups should be stored in the fridge and are at their best and freshest for two weeks. best. You could add a little vodka to extend their shelf life but I use an alternative. I store mine in small glass bottles which I keep in the freezer and use them as needed. If you try this method, don’t fill the glass containers to the top as the liquid can expand and break the bottle.
