I’m thrilled to announce that I am a double winner in the Randwick Council Garden Awards in two categories: Best Edible or Productive Garden and Eco Champion.
The Garden Awards are held annually and are open to all Randwick Council residents, community groups, schools and commercial enterprises. They are judged by a panel of independent professional judges who are engaged by Council to provide impartial and specialised expertise.
There are ten categories to enter, and I entered my garden in three categories: Best Edible or Productive Garden, Best Small Spaces Garden and Eco Champion.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the judging of the awards was done remotely, through supplied photography and video footage. The usual awards ceremony was cancelled, and the winners were announced on Wednesday 15 December through a video announcement on the council’s website, in the email newsletter and through their social channels.
“The Garden Awards are the perfect opportunity to celebrate those in our community who prioritise green spaces – it’s a credit to our community that we had so many amazing entries,” says Randwick Council Mayor Dylan Parker.
I am truly honoured to receive both awards and to continue to champion not only edible gardening in my tiny courtyard but sustainability and eco-friendly practices in a small and challenging space.
